What do you think of when you hear the words “Be Safe”? What about when you are asked to stay home and are not able to go to school or play with your friends? We know this can be a frustrating time and even though it can be fun to be in your PJ’s all day, be home with your parents and not do as much school work, we understand that it can also get boring and confusing, and you may have a lot of questions. For that reason, we have put together some important information that can help you understand why things like washing hands, being apart from those you love, and wearing a mask is important for you and your safety. COVID-19 is probably going to be a word you will remember for the rest of your life, our intention is that we can provide you with some safe, virtual fun and education that will fill your thoughts with positivity and inspire you to do things that will fill your heart with love, and do kind things for other people. COVID-19 & You
As time goes on in this pandemic the doctors and scientists are learning more about the Coronavirus and how to best protect ourselves. As a result, it is now recommended that we were face masks when we go out, especially when it is difficult to socially distance. Since the doctors and nurses in the hospitals need medical masks to stay safe at work, it is recommended that we use cloth face masks. Making your own face mask is a fun activity to do with your family.
When people sneeze, cough, talk or sing they produce tiny water droplets that can travel in the air for a little while before they fall onto the ground or other surfaces. Germs including the new Coronavirus can live in those water droplets and if they come in contact with someone else they can catch the virus. The doctors and scientists know that the furthest a water droplet can travel when someone coughs or sneezes is 2 meters before it falls out of the air, so that is why it’s important to stay at least 2 meters away from other people when you are outside. If someone sneezes you will still be safe if you are 2 meters away. How far is 2 meters? About 2 arms lengths away.
Hand washing is the most important habit you can have to keep yourself healthy! Why? Because think about all the things we touch everyday. Germs and viruses are invisible so we never know if or when we might have touched something that is covered with germs and viruses that could make us sick if we then touch our eyes, nose or mouth. Washing our hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, making sure we get to all the nooks and crannies between our fingers and under our nails washes all the germs down the sink and helps us stay healthy. To make sure you are washing for long enough, singing “Happy Birthday” twice is a good trick. Remember to wash your hands when you come home after being outside, after you sneeze or cough, and before you eat.
If you cannot wash your hands with soap and water, hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol is a good substitute. It is important to use enough to cover all of the nooks and crannies between your fingers, the fronts and backs of your hands (usually 2 pumps), and to rub your hands for at least 20 seconds. It’s important to rub your hands together until they are completely dry–do not wipe your hands on your clothes to dry them faster! If you do, you are not killing all the germs on your hands AND you are dirtying them again by picking up any germs that might be on your clothes. Remember, it’s important to wash with soap and water before eating, and as soon as you come home from being outside.

Did you know your brain is the most important part of your body and that it works like the operating system in your computer? Your brain is a fascinating part of who you are and it controls and evaluates everything that happens in your body, such as the thoughts you think about all day long, the things you remember and it enables to you run, sing, read and eat. Your brain is like the wildest invention ever created that sends messages to every part of your body so that you can blink, breathe, digest your food, and stay alive by making your heart beat.
Just like your favorite foods, music and friends that keep your heart happy, there are many things that keep your brain happy. Having a happy and healthy brain gives you the energy and desire to live a joyful life. Being joyful is so important because when you are feeling joy, others around you can’t help but to feel joy, and that is why your lifestyle needs to be filled with happy brain habits. Habits such as eating a balanced diet, getting lots of sleep, regular exercise, and positive thinking that will fill you with positive and happy emotions make your brain happy and healthy. Your daily routines can impact your brain either in a positive or negative way. We believe that when you are aware of what makes your brain happy or unhappy, you will have all the super tools you need to make smart choices. These choices will create harmony and balance between your heart, brain and body so that your confidence will skyrocket, and the love you feel for yourself will expand causing you to be more compassionate, empathetic and kind towards others.
We, at I Dare U 2 Bee, LOVE to write. Putting words on paper, or typing them into the computer is our way of sharing with you our feelings and what is important to us. When I say big, I mean their kind acts were so courageous that miracles happened. YOU are just like all the kind and brave heroes in history and guess what? You get to spend your life being the hero today and tomorrow. Being kind is not complicated, every day you do kind things and you may not even know it! To help you learn about kindness throughout history we have shared with you stories of kind and courageous actions that changed the world.
All around the world there are different people living in different places doing different things that are unique to their community, country and religion. Special things that are amazing, like enjoying tasty food dishes, music, traditional activities, festivals, celebrations and also honoring events that happened in history that are special to the people who live in that country or community. Sometimes the easiest way to understanding culture is a way of life for people, the way they do things. When a group of people do things in their own special way it is something to celebrate. This is a part of that word you may hear about called diversity which means a collection of different things. What makes diversity so FANTASTIC is we can share those different things, traditions, foods, music, celebrations with others. When you understand other peoples’ diverse cultures, you get to participate and celebrate with them. So to help you we have shared with you some of the beautiful and kind things that happen in cultures around the world.

When Martin Luther King Jr. gave his speech “I have a dream” he never realized how his words and actions would change the lives of millions of people and begin one of the greatest movements towards freedom. Gandhi dared thousands of people to be brave enough to create peace, and Mother Teresa always said “do small things with great love”. When you read the words “be the change” what does that mean to you? We believe that it means that we, you, me and every person can be the one to change the world. We all can be our own versions of Martin Luther King Jr., Mother Teresa, and Gandhi. If you want people to take care of the earth and be kinder, it needs to start with you. At I Dare U 2 Bee, we are charged up, filled with hope, and have a big vision because we know there is no planet B. Now more than ever YOU ARE NEEDED, just like the trees need the bees, the fish needs the ocean, and our bodies need air. Without you it is one less person that will show our earth some love.
