What does HELPFUL mean?
The definition of HELPFUL is being of service or assistance to others.
Being HELPFUL is not always a simple thing to do as we live our lives racing against time. As you begin Day 10 of our KINDolutions challenge, being HELPFUL will play a BIG PART in how you participate.
We are usually conscious when we are being helpful but don’t always clue in when we are being unhelpful. Everyone has different ways they need to receive help, your way of doing things may not always be what others need and even though the effort requires acknowledgement the most powerful thing you can do for another is to ask them: “how can I help you?” It is rare to hear that today. Most people do not spend time thinking about who they can ask if they need help today. It is a rare but a MIGHTY KIND ACTION that at times can be the miracle someone has been hoping for. Being helpful requires an open and caring mind, and more than anything it requires you to practice not always just thinking of yourself. We often go about our day thinking about ourselves, what we need to do, when we need to do it and how to do it! When our minds are filled up with our own needs, we are not aware nor even think of the needs of others. When you can practice being helpful, it can be the very thing that will elevate your connection with others and really help you see yourself as a thoughtful person.

Today we challenge you to do a KINDNESS ASSESSMENT. The assessment is simple and at times you may struggle, yet this is where your MIGHTY COURAGE kicks in.

Why are you NOT willing to be helpful towards 1 person, and yourself each day? What do you think is stopping you?
Think about what reasons you may have that are justifying your unwillingness to be helpful. This is not easy to do, yet we encourage you to write your answers on a piece of paper or in your journal.
- Write on a piece of paper or in your journal a list of people that you will practice being helpful towards and also include how you may help yourself become more helpful towards others.
- Write out how being helpful can make you a kinder person.
NOW make today the start of practicing being HELPFUL and witness how and when you unexpectedly ask others “how can I help you?” with a big happy smile, that the question alone fills their heart and reminds you how amazing you really are.
