What does RECOGNITION mean?
The definition of RECOGNITION is the state of being recognized and or giving acknowledgment, special notice or attention to someone or something else.
Recognition is often forgotten very easily in our busy lives and as you begin Day 9 of our KINDolutions challenge, recognition will play a BIG PART in how you participate.
Whether we admit it or not, everyone wants recognition. Having someone notice the great things you have done, especially the difficult things can make a huge difference in your motivation to keep trying. When we give recognition to our friends, parents, guardians, local community workers and ourselves, it inspires our minds and feels warm in our hearts. Life today can occur hectic, unsettling and uncertain for many, yet one thing that is certain is our ability to acknowledge others and recognize them for their efforts, and what makes them so great. To do this requires a KIND mind. A KIND mind is powered by gratitude, and gratitude allows you to SEE the things that others should be recognized for. Every day is a perfect opportunity to practice recognition, with your parents for working long days, cashiers at stores for showing up no matter what, and all your friends who participate in their school work online or off. One of the hardest things to do is recognize yourself and when you can do that, it is easier to do it for others.

Why are you NOT willing to practice recognition towards yourself and others?
Think about what may be preventing you from being willing to recognize the great things you and those around you do. This is not easy to do, yet we encourage you to write your answers on a piece of paper or in your journal.
- Write on a piece of paper or in your journal 3 people you have not recognized and ask yourself why you have not. Include yourself as the 4th.
- Write out how recognition can make you a kinder person. BONUS OPPORTUNITY. Go and recognize the people on your list by telling them how great you think they are and why.
