Summertime Creativity

Summertime Creativity

As the weather gets warmer and summer comes around there is a new air of excitement. Cottage getaways, road trips and warm adventures await. The grass and the trees are green and lush, the animals are out and about with their babies. There is always much to be grateful for.

There is something about the warm sun and a cool summer breeze that inspires creativity and expands the mind with endless possibilities. After a winter of hibernation indoors, people want to get out of the house, gather their friends and loved ones and enjoy nice meals together on the patio or backyard. Kids are off school and resume outdoor sports, summer camps and ride their bikes, skateboards and scooters all around town.

Here are 5 tips to take advantage of the warm days and spark endless creativity this summer:

  1. Have a indoor or outdoor photoshoot

Make some cool backdrops with blankets, newspaper or flyers by the window and take some cool themed pictures with the               family. For outdoors, pick a theme and have each family member take a photo of their interpretation of the subject! Make it             to a contest or display them at home ‘gallery style’. Polaroid cameras are the best to use but any phone or camera will do!

  1. Be a nature artist and explorer!

Make an art piece with things you find on a walking trail or in the park. Acorns, sticks, leaves, flowers etc! Make a sculpture            or a collage on some card board or bristol board.

  1. Start a green garden with some plant seeds or small potted plants from your local store. Mix different styles of plants or flowers to make beautiful arrangements or pieces of decor.

  2. Have an outdoor movie night Grab a laptop or a tablet or even your tv with a long extension cord! Bring out some twinkle lights, cozy blankets and pillows to set the mood. Don’t forget the popcorn and snacks!

  3. Picnic in the park Pack your favourite lunch to go with a big blanket to sit on. Bring some cups and your beverage of choice to enjoy cross-legged on some fresh green grass. Pick a nice shady spot, or get some vitamin D in the sun…with ample sunscreen of course!

Have an amazing summer!
