In Spain the “Angels of the Camino”
There is a famous 500-mile trail in Spain called the Camino de Santiago. It was a once a spiritual/religious trek but now it is usually traveled by solitary walkers on soul-searching quests. The people who live in the towns along the trail-known as the angels of Camino- recognize that the solitary walkers could use some kindness along their way that they offer the walkers water, food, shelter, directions, a friendly word. Even the wineyard along the way provides free wine to toast their happiness!
