"You can't use up creativity. The more you use the more you have." – Maya Angelou
Our creativity is endless. We were all born with a special ability to see the world in all its wonder. As children, we grow and learn from exploring things around us. Everything is new and exciting.
When we experience things for the first time, it's sometimes called "A Beginner's Mind". This means to have an attitude of openness, eagerness, and curiosity. Our imagination is free to run wild, make believe and play.
When looking at something like a chair for example, we eventually learn from observing the people around us, that a chair is meant for sitting on. But if you were to use your imagination and creativity, it can transform that chair into anything! A spaceship, a safe spot if the floor is lava, a helpful structure to build a blanket fort!
Using creativity is like exercising a muscle. When you practice using your muscles a lot, they get stronger. The same can be said about creativity. The more you use your imagination, the easier it gets to see things in a different way from everyone else.
What else can you bring your creativity to? How about things like homework or chores?
Even things that seem boring can be fun if you just add a little creativity!
With love,
Ravenne Villanueva
