CURIOUS
“Replace judgement with curiosity.” – Lynn Nottage
What does CURIOUS mean? The definition of CURIOUS is being eager to know or learn something.
Being curious is not always an automatic thing we do yet without curiosity we cannot grow. As you begin Day 20 of our KINDolutions challenge, curiosity will play a BIG PART in how you participate.
Curiosity plays a big part in why new great ideas are born. It is easier to say “no I would never try that” and be stuck in your same routine than be open-minded and try new things. Approaching new ideas with curiosity instead of judgement is not always easy, yet imagine if we could interact with all the people in our life with a great interest in why they may be sad, mad, distant and down versus judging them as being boring, snobby, selfish or always negative. It is so easy to jump to conclusions about others, and yet they have emotions, feelings, and good or bad days just like you. No one has a life free of stress or struggle, yet it is sad how we sometimes do not fill our minds with curiosity to get interested in why others are the way they are or do what they do. When we can listen without judgment we can listen with kind ears. In fact, being curious allows us to be more empathetic and compassionate and helps us understand others better. Life is very busy and one of the kindest things you can do is not jump to conclusions and instead jump in with your kind heart and curious mind.
At www.idareu2bee.com we believe curiosity allows everything to blossom and grow, especially our relationships and our minds.
Today we challenge you to do a KINDNESS ASSESSMENT. The assessment is simple and at times you may struggle, yet this is where your MIGHTY COURAGE kicks in.
Do not give up, do not give in because building your kindness superpowers will have you win!
Get Ready, Get Set and GROW forward with your GIGANTIC KIND HEART.
KINDNESS ASSESSMENT DAY 20
STEP 1
- Are you willing to practice being curious and acknowledging when you are quick to judge others when you are listening to them?
If YOU ANSWERED YES, GREAT! Scroll down to STEP 2.
If YOU ANSWERED NO, stay right here and ask yourself this question.
Why are you NOT willing to be curious about when you are not being curious?
Think about what may be preventing you from practicing being interested in why you are not willing to be curious. This is not easy to do, yet we encourage you to write your answers on a piece of paper or in your journal.
STEP 2
- Write on a piece of paper or in your journal the people that you have automatically judged and why. Then write out how you think it makes them feel that you were quick to judge them.
AND
- Write out how curiosity can make you a kinder person.
NOW make today the start of practicing being curious with everyone and listening without judgement. Pay close attention to how different you begin to experience the people in your life.
Thank you for participating in the Day 20 2023 KINDolution challenge.
