HUMILITY
“Pride makes us artificial, and humility makes us real.” -Thomas Merton
What does HUMILITY mean? The definition of HUMILITY is not thinking of yourself as better than other people
Being HUMBLE is a virtuous way to be and as you begin Day 22 of our KINDolutions challenge, HUMILITY will play a BIG PART in how you participate.
Being humble is perhaps an under-rated virtue. For many of us, humility is one of the hardest traits to develop, because it must start from a recognition that you are not always right, and that you do not have all the answers. Pride is often what gets in the way as defending yourself is easier than acknowledging you are wrong. Yet when we can be humble in those kinds of situations, we create more trust with others. A key quality of humbleness is to value others and enable them to be heard. Spending time listening to others, and drawing out their feelings and values, enabling them to express themselves, is very powerful. When we are humble, kindness becomes a natural part of our self-expression and grants us the opportunity to grow our kindness superpowers like never before.
At www.idareu2bee.com we believe we were all created equal and we all have the same opportunity to share our voice. Being responsible for our pride and how it impacts others is a big step towards building your kindness footprint.
Today we challenge you to do a KINDNESS ASSESSMENT. The assessment is simple and at times you may struggle, yet this is where your MIGHTY COURAGE kicks in.
Do not give up, do not give in because building your kindness superpowers will have you win!
Get Ready, Get Set and GROW forward with your GIGANTIC KIND HEART.
KINDNESS ASSESSMENT DAY 22
STEP 1
- Are you willing to practice acknowledging when you allow your pride to get in the way of being humble and admitting when you may not be right?
If YOU ANSWERED YES, GREAT! Scroll down to STEP 2.
If YOU ANSWERED NO, stay right here and ask yourself this question.
Why are you NOT willing to be responsible when your pride gets in the way of being humble?
Think about what may be preventing you from being humble, especially when you may not be right. This is not easy to do, yet we encourage you to write your answers on a piece of paper or in your journal.
STEP 2
- Write on a piece of paper or in your journal where you have not been humble and how it has impacted you and others.
AND
- Write out how being humble can make you a kinder person.
NOW make today the start of practising being humble and witnessing how your relationships become closer and more trusting.
Thank you for participating in the Day 22 2022 KINDolution challenge.
