RESPECTFUL
“Respect comes in two unchangeable steps: giving it and receiving it.” -Edmond Mbiaka
What does RESPECTFUL mean?
The definition of RESPECTFUL is showing politeness or honour to someone or something.
Being respectful is not always easy and as we begin Day 8 of our KINDolutions challenge, respectfulness will play a BIG PART in how you participate.
Being respectful is the foundation for being a genuinely kind person. We tend to forget what respect really is. It’s actually really simple just remember the saying: “Do unto others as you would want to do unto you.” We all want to be treated respectfully, especially by those who are the closest to us, and often that is what gets taken for granted.
Being respectful is so important because it creates trust between people. It is the reason why people want to be your friend, or why they would hire you for a job. When you are respectful you gain respect from everyone around you and people know you are kindhearted. Respectfulness is not just how you treat people, it is at the core of who you are which enables you to be a leader, to always think before you act, especially towards our planet and all living things. Without being a respectful person, you can never truly be kind.
At www.idareu2bee.com, we believe that asking ourselves: “How can I be more respectful to myself and others?” allows us to grow our hearts and spread kindness everywhere we go.
Today we challenge you to do a KINDNESS ASSESSMENT. The assessment is simple and at times you may struggle, yet this is where your MIGHTY COURAGE kicks in.
Do not give up, do not give in because building your kindness superpowers will have you win!
Get Ready, Get Set and GROW forward with your GIGANTIC KIND HEART.
KINDNESS ASSESSMENT DAY 8
STEP 1
- Are you willing to practice being respectful towards people, the planet, and all living creatures? More importantly, are you willing to admit when you have not been?
If YOU ANSWERED YES, GREAT! Scroll down to STEP 2.
If YOU ANSWERED NO, stay right here and ask yourself this question.
Why are you NOT willing to admit when you haven’t been or are not being respectful with certain people in your life or the planet?
Think about what may be preventing you from being honest with yourself and admitting when you’ve acted disrespectfully. This is not easy to do, yet we encourage you to write your answers on a piece of paper or in your journal.
STEP 2
- Write on a piece of paper or in your journal who you have not acted respectfully with and why. After that, consider apologizing to that person or persons.
AND
- Write out how being respectful can make you a kinder person.
NOW make today the start of practicing being respectful and witness how happy you will make others and how much more respect you will have for YOU!
